Every designer
needs formwork
before they can
hold their shape
id.Formwork is the industrial design bootcamp built by Design Objects — three months of sketching reps, manufacturing discipline and portfolio pressure that college leaves out and studios expect on day one.
Go Online — live class every Saturday, discussion every Wednesday — or go all-in at our Bengaluru studio, full-time through the week with real prototypes and manufacturing on hand.

THE PROBLEM
Beyond the classroom. Closer to practice.
Most industrial design programs provide a strong foundation in creativity and design methodology. Formwork complements that education with the practical knowledge rarely experienced in an academic setting: DFM, manufacturing, costing, production, communication and real client workflows. Learn how products move from concept to market, with people who do it for a living.
WHO THIS IS BUILT FOR
— Design students who want a portfolio that survives a manufacturing conversation, not just a critique.
— Working professionals upgrading from concept work to production-ready thinking.
— Career-switchers who can sketch an idea but have never had to cost, tool, or defend one.

Behind the Scenes
WHAT YOU'RE BUILT ON
Eight modules. One portfolio-ready product
Every module ends in applied work on your own product line, reviewed by working designers — not a slide deck you'll forget by the next cohort.
MOD 01
Industry Expectations
What studios and manufacturers actually look for before a designer earns creative freedom.
MOD 02
Design Sketching
Daily reps in perspective, form and fast ideation — sketching as communication, not decoration.
MOD 03
DFM/DFA & CMF
Design for manufacture 7assembly, taught against real tooling and production constraints.
MOD 04
Product Visualization
Rendering and presentation that sells an idea before it's tooled.
MOD 05
Costing
Reading a BOM, understanding tooling cost, and designing with a target price in mind.
MOD 06
Visual Design
Branding, packaging, product catalogues and creating other visual assets.
MOD 07
Portfolio Development
Turning three months of work into a case study that opens interview doors.
MOD 08
AI & Design
Working with AI, integrating it with existing workflows, and using the latest models.
TWO WAYS THROUGH
Two schedules.
Two levels of immersion.
Online keeps a fixed weekly rhythm — Saturday for live class, Wednesday for discussion and brainstorming — built to sit alongside a job or college. Studio trades that fixed rhythm for the whole week: full-time, hands-on with prototypes, materials and manufacturing at our Bengaluru space.

Thanks everyone for such a wonderful experience. This 3 month was a very valuable time for me personally, as i have been in a dilemma and lost great hope about industrial design before i started this bootcamp. But this bootcamp has challenged and made me realise my fears and strengths. I wish i had known about this bootcamp few years earlier, nevertheless this experience would definitely be a great foundation in my journey. Thanks again to Vishnu, Shovan. Raj, Rudhran for this bootcamp. Hoping for our paths to cross in the future.

It was a great experience to learn under shovan sir who gave immense freedom to go in depths of research. i really appreciated the push i got while ideation, the entire team was quite supportive in that. i do always tell my juniors, for anyone looking to work in industrial design should explore design objects as a space to grow and learn about the practice in a much enriching manner and the team is extremely warm. i had a great time there, learnt a lot.

It was a very rewarding experience for me. It allowed me to work on a live problem, explore my interest in biophilic design and navigate the entire journey of product development, from research and ideation to 3d modeling. Working at DesignObjects and learning from diverse inputs gave me a clearer sense of how to balance vision with feasibility. Overall, I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity to apply and refine my conceptual strengths in a supportive, fun and creatively charged environment.

FAQ
Questions worth asking before you apply.
Who is Formwork actually for?
Design students who want an industry-ready portfolio, working professionals upgrading their practical skills, and career-switchers with an eye for form who've never had to cost, tool, or take a design into manufacturing.
What's the real difference between Online and Studio?
Online runs on a fixed weekly rhythm — Saturday for live class, Wednesday for discussion — built to fit around a job or college. Studio trades that fixed rhythm for the whole week: full-time, hands-on with prototypes and manufacturing at our Bengaluru space, and a deeper curriculum overall.
What does a typical week look like?
On Online, Saturday is instruction — new material, demonstrations, direct teaching — and Wednesday is the rest of the work: critique, brainstorming and peer feedback. Studio trades that fixed rhythm for full-week immersion: daily studio time, hands-on prototyping and manufacturing exposure alongside your cohort.
Do I need prior CAD or sketching experience?
No. Sketching is taught from the ground up as a daily practice. What matters is a genuine interest in how products get made, not a finished skillset.
Is there a placement guarantee?
No bootcamp can honestly promise a job. What Formwork gives you is a portfolio, a network, and a level of industry fluency that makes the search shorter — the alumni community exists precisely because that continues past week twelve.
Can I do this alongside college or a full-time job?
On Online, yes — live class is Saturday morning, 10am–12pm, and Wednesday's discussion session is the only other fixed commitment, with 1:1 time available as needed. Studio runs through the week and is better suited to a dedicated three-month stretch rather than a side commitment.
